The Spring 2018 release of the Legacy Club is upon us! Please see below tasting notes for each of the wines to be included in the Fall allocation:

Legacy Club

2016 White Wine "Three Sisters Cuvee":

Our 2016 Three Sister’s White wine is a stunning composition of aromas and flavors. The Grenache Blanc component essentially functions as a framework, but contributes alluring secondary notes and clean minerality in the wine. The flamboyant barrel-fermented Viognier is countered on the palate by the substantiate percentage of Picpoul Blanc, which provides this blend with fantastic acidity throughout. Even at a scant 1%, the Roussanne lends a degree of weight to the mid-palate giving it a more opulent mouthfeel. We hope you enjoy drinking this wine as much as we enjoyed making it!

2017 Rosé "Julia":

Our 2017 vintage “Julia” Rose is particularly stunning in the glass. The salmon color heralds the strawberry and cotton candy aromatics to be savored like the first day of spring.  Clean and nimble on the palate, juicy fruits predominate the attack followed by refreshing acidity that fades gracefully to a dry limestone inspired finish. Truly one of the best vintages we have created, so grab some while it lasts!
Tech Sheet

2015 Tempranillo "Chileno":

The 2015 vintage is a perfect representation of our Estella district vineyard’s estate-grown fruit.  Ruby red in color, this wine exudes rich aromas of spiced plum, toasted oak and wild sage. Dried cherries and blackberries present in the palate and are underpinned by vanilla and damp clay.  The plush midpalate yields to a well-composed tannic structure that allows this wine a variety of food pairing possibilities.  We suggest spicy Mexican cuisine and a good friend.

2015 Petite Sirah, "The Pergola":

Our 2015 Estate-grown Pergola Petite Sirah is an elegant expression of this varietal’s potential. It is a vibrant, ruby color with aromatics that are dominated by cherry kirsch and raspberries, with underpinnings of vanilla and violet.  The flavors follow with richly concentrated blackberry, baker’s chocolate and lovely earth tones.  The wine’s velvety weight is contrasted and brought dimension through the bright acidity that is most evident in the midpalate.  Medium and well-defined tannins give the 2015 Pergola a long and lingering finish. 90 Points, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

2015 Petit Verdot, "Pancho":

While this obscure varietal has been relegated to being predominately a blending grape in its native France, here at Hearst Ranch Winery, we are ready to expose its potential to command a dominant role in our new blend: Pancho. Named after William Randolph’s favored cowboy and right-hand man, this wine commands a strong presence, just like its namesake.  Deep rich garnet color announces the ripe stone fruit layered with toasted oak spice on the nose.  Blackberry liquor and spice follow on the palate, supported by recognizable but well integrated tannins.  Enjoy this wine as Pancho would with a Hearst Ranch Rib-eye.  This wine is very limited in quantity and may not be available in future vintages.
Tech Sheet

2015 Red Wine, "GSM Reserve":

We are pleased to announce the inaugural vintage of this wine, our interpretation of the classic Chateauneuf du Pape wine of the southern Rhone valley.  Lively crimson in color the weight of this wine is apparent from the first pour.  The aromatics are un-mistakenly Rhone; Candied blackberry, cassis and bramble perfume the glass.  Dark ripe cherry and baker’s chocolate can be found on the palate and are carried to the finish by elegant tannins that create the framework on which to base this opulent and richly textured wine.  This wine is very limited in quantity and may not be available in future vintages.

2016 Zinfandel, "Carpoforo":

As a varietal, Zinfandel tends to throw caution to the wind and err on the side of fun. While not losing sight of its rambunctious roots, our 2016 Carpoforo Zinfandel maintains its regal composure. Expressing classic aromatics of brambly berry fruits and holiday spice, Carpoforo invites you into the glass, while the rich dark stone fruit flavors and a subtle touch of pepper fulfill all expectations.  The fine tannins play a supportive role in the midpalate where the focus is on this wine’s decadent mouth feel, but come through to carry the long finish.
Tech Sheet

2015 Malbec "Babicora":

The 2015 Babicora Malbec is bright scarlet in color.  Lively candied cranberry aromatics are clearly perceptible in the nose, while sweet vanilla can also be distinguished and remains in the palate.  Luscious fruit flavors and rich spice balance this wine’s bright acidity. Soft tannins take over from a lush midpalate and linger in the finish, making this wine a versatile pairing, equally matched with tomato-based sauces or pork loin.
